Fantasy premier league crouching striker, hidden goals

Liverpool have hired a private jet to get their main man back from the African Cup of Nations as quickly as possible. They have missed Sadio Mané during his spell representing Senegal as Jurgen Klopp's men have struggled to keep up their title run and been dumped out of both domestic cup competitions.

Mané has bagged nine goals from midfield along with six assists so far this term and has been the fifth highest scoring midfielder in fantasy football. He should be seen as a must add upon his return as he's still only priced at £9.0m. However I'd warn against bringing him in this week. He's not assured of jetting back in time to make the starting XI against Chelsea and even if he was, Chelsea isn't a game where you bring back a player. Put Mané on the backburner and look to the weekends game at Hull to bring him back in.

If though you really believe in him, you can get him at [3.7] to score at anytime on the Exchange.

Rodney ain't no plonker

When Peter Crouch made his debut the first time around for Portsmouth at the real St. George's Park (Newport IoW) the crowd chanted 'Rodney is a plonker' to him due to his likeness to the actor Nicholas Lyndhurst. Here we are 16 years on and he's once more a viable fantasy asset being the third hottest attacker in terms of form in the game.

He's started the last five games and bagged himself three goals and two assists in that time frame. He also signed a new deal in the Potteries, which came as a surprise to most.

Next up is a home game with Everton and then trips to the Hawthorns and Selhurst Park. None of those games should frighten a fantasy manager who is looking to add the 35 year-old. This though is the real reason you should be looking at him closely, he's only £4.8m. That is absolute peanuts when it comes to how much strikers cost, so he could become your third striker on the cheap allowing more money to be spent elsewhere rather easily.

You can get him at 13/2 to score first or 9/4 to score anytime on the Betfair Sportsbook.

Goodbye Payet but hello...?

If you were holding on to hope that Dimitri Payet would start acting like a grown-up and still had him in your fantasy squad then it is time to look around and find yourself a value player to replace him. Luckily he was one of the most expensive midfielders around so the choices are bountiful.

I'd start though with Henrikh Mkhitaryan or Paul Pogba. The Manchester United duo are both priced less than Payet and when you look at their upcoming fixtures, they do not have a game rated as 4 or 5 in terms of difficulty until April 15. This really opens up the United options as you'd expect them to get on a roll and if they do then these are two of the players who should contribute.

The Armenian hasn't brought in a goal or an assist in four games but when you watch him, you just feel he's capable to do either at any time. As for Pogba, it is a similar tale. He is getting there and has been playing further forward since Michael Carrick has become a mainstay in that team. If you need midfield help then Manchester United have options and it looks like both of these players will start most games for José.
